Beware of Rattlesnakes: Higher Activity in PPE2

Hi Everyone,

We have had four different rattlesnakes on our property in the past two weeks. Two different rattlesnakes behind the large pots by our front door within a few days of each other. Everyone should be very careful because they are extremely hard to see on gravel or in vegetation. In 24 years we have not seen this many rattlesnakes in a season. Just a friendly warning for all residents and their pets. The good snakes such as the King or Bull Snakes are welcome but to have four different rattlesnakes is a bit alarming.

Thank You,

Janice Gallant

WARNING: Wild Animal Poisoning

URGENT — All Owners PPE2 HOA:

This message is to inform you of a terrible and dangerous situation that happened with a young coyote in our area.

Monday, July 1, a coyote was found dead in a neighbor’s yard along with obvious evidence that I will not describe in this message.  This poor animal most certainly had died painfully due to poisoning.

Please, be conscious, as you bait for rats, that coyotes, bobcats, vultures, etc. don’t fall victim to poisoning from eating other poisoned animals.  Do Not dispose of the poisoned rats in the desert so that no more of these beautiful animals fall victim to accidental poisoning.

PPE II Gate Vandalism

Fellow Pinnacle Peak Estates II Residents,

I want to let everyone know that Janice and Bob Gallant of the Gate Committee have made us aware that there has been an incident of vandalism at the new gate system. The system is now equipped with photo eyes that are intended to be an added safety feature. When installed correctly and properly functioning, they can add an extra level of safety to the system. However, they can also be problematic (which we have experienced) and they can also be very vulnerable to vandalism.

Bob reports the photo eyes on the Exit Gate have been vandalized resulting in that set of gates being held open. It is an unfortunately reality that many construction workers, landscapers, and folks with bad  intentions know how to easily damage, corrupt or manipulate these devices.

We ask that all residents be on the lookout for ANYONE at the gates that are not Park Pro service personnel and to report any suspicious activity to Bob or Janice, or another Board member. We are considering mounting additional cameras at the gate in order to prevent this from happening in the future.

Your cooperation and awareness is appreciated.

 Thank you,

Nate Prewitt

Landscape Warnings: Mistletoe and Desert Broom

Mistletoe (Phoradendron spp) is a parasitic evergreen shrub that sends its rootlike structures into tree branches, where they absorb water, minerals & nutrients.  In severe infestations, mistletoe can kill a tree by robbing it of nutrients.  It earns its genus name, Phoradendron, which means “thief of the tree”.  Mistletoe can be spread from tree to tree by birds, which feed on the seeds & deposit then in nearby trees.  If residents have mistletoe in trees please remove immediately. See Google Image Search for visual references.

Desert Broom known as a noxious or nuisance weed.  It is said that if you have a lot of Desert Broom you have a lot less desert vegetation.  This invasive weed can also crowd out other plants, steel valuable water & clog roadsides/washes & retention areas.  If residents have desert broom on their property please remove immediately. See Google Image Search for visual references.

Upcoming Thursday Night Annual Meeting and Voting

Dear Fellow Pinnacle Peak Estates Unit II Homeowners,

I wanted to take this opportunity to remind everyone that our Annual HOA Meeting will be held Thursday night, at 7:00 PM at the Highlands Church, 9050 E. Pinnacle Peak Rd., in the High School Room. On behalf on the entire Board of Directors, we encourage everyone to attend.

Whether you can attend or not, please be sure to return your completed Ballot for the voting for the 2019 Board of Directors. This year, you can return your ballot via e-mail, in addition to mailing, hand-delivering, or giving to a neighbor to turn in at the start of the meeting. Given this new e-mail voting option, we are anticipating tremendous participation on the part of all residents.

Thanks to your support, we have been able to launch many initiatives  that have languished for years with no activity. We look forward to accomplishing even more with the greater involvement: on the Board, on Committees, and within the community, as more of us get engaged. This resurgence in community involvement from so many residents has been very encouraging as we look forward to even greater involvement in the future. You can access an electronic version of our Annual Packet by clicking here.

Please be sure to return your ballots via email to Secretary Melissa Blake at secppeu2@yahoo.com. If you have any questions, or comments, please feel free to reach out to me via e-mail, or by phone  at 480-688-5239.

Hope to see everyone Thursday Night!

Fellow PPE@ HOA Residents,

In preparation for the upcoming Annual Meeting to be held Thursday, February 21st, I want to take this opportunity to invite everyone to become involved in our 2019 Board of Director Nominations Committee and Election Process.

A Nominations Committee is currently being formed and there are opportunities to become involved. If you are interested please contact myself, or Secretary Melissa Blake at secppeu2hoa@yahoo.com. The Committee will consist of (9) at large members of the community. As President, I will act as advisor to the Committee. Please let us know by the end of this week, January 25th, if you'd like to participate on the Committee. We need a Chair, Co-Chair and at least (2) volunteers to handle the Resident Vote list prior to and at the Board Meeting. We will also need help tabulating the vote totals. The responsibility of our Nomination Committee members is to promote the opportunity to join our Board to eligible members, collect nominations, review nominee questionnaires, conduct interviews (if desired) and develop endorsements as outlined in our CC&R's (see Article V).

If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else, please complete and return the nominations form accessible here

The deadline for nominations to be received by the Secretary is Monday, January 28th at 5:00 pm  in order to be included on the Ballot. Nominations received after that time may participate in the election via the Write-In option.

This is everyone's opportunity to become involved in the Association and participate in the selection of our 2019 Board of Directors.
